2015 German Design Award goes to VOLA RS10 hands-free soap dispenser

VOLA RS10 hands-free soap dispenser has been awarded the 2015 German Design Award – The German Design Council’s  International Premier Prize.

The German Design Design Award is one of the most prestigious design prizes. The more than 2,250 national and international submissions this year alone, testify to the great attractiveness of the premium prize as well as the high esteem on the market. Those who prevail against the high-quality competition have successfully proven they belong to the best.

The VOLA RS10 hands-free soap dispenser was launched 2013 and has already received Interior Innovation Award 2014.

Statement of the jury:
The VOLA RS10 is a fully-automated electronic soap dispenser for soft crème and foam soap that is completely integrated in the wall and, apart from the striking VOLA ring around the opening, is practically invisible. The only thing to indicate its function is a discreet icon above the hollow space. A motion sensor inside the dispenser discharges the portion of soap. An aesthetically timeless, perfect solution, especially in the high-end public domain.

“Drawing of the year 2014”

 International student competition

The Aarhus School of Architecture, schmidt hammer lassen architects, VOLA and The Danish Arts Foundation proudly announce a joint venture ‘Drawing of the Year 2014’.

We invite entries from all architectural students in the form of drawings that inspire, communicate and engage. The internationally acclaimed jury will be looking to award drawings that express the architect’s aesthetic and conceptual approach as a dialogue with – and through - the medium of drawing.

Drawing is a media production and a dissemination of thoughts and dreams. The audience should be invited to wonder at, be moved by and be involved in drawing as a recognition and discussion of tomorrow’s architecture. The theme of the competition is: ”Transformation Through Architecture” – focusing on architecture’s ambition to take an active part in social development.

The competition is seen as an opportunity to celebrate the architect’s oldest tool as a relevant media for communicating his craft – and for demonstrating the potential of discussing and developing architectural ideas laid down on paper through the art of drawing. Drawings will be exhibited at the Aarhus School of Architecture, and the winners announced, in December 2014. (1st prize: 5000 Euro. 2nd prize 2000 Euro. 3rd prize 1000). In the spring of 2015, the exhibition will be shown at schools of architecture worldwide.

The VOLA electronic taps and mixers can be configured according to the wishes of the building owner. This offers the possibility of conscious water consumption by allowing the flow time to be set individually for each tap. The water flow rate can also be controlled with flow regulators which again minimises water consumption keeping costs down and help preserving our natural resources. Minimum cleaning and maximum hygiene is also achieved due to the hands free operation method.

News January 2013: VOLA 060 Round Shower. Uniquely refreshing. Visibly VOLA.

This is not the first shower to be designed and manufactured by VOLA.  It is the first ever round-head shower. That’s what makes it special. It is a natural extension of the VOLA range. And it means a luxury bathroom can now be totally VOLA, combining chosen elements from the award-winning Round Series. It clearly belongs to the VOLA range. At VOLA we believe in continuity. The unique products all take their proportions from the classic Arne Jacobsen tap specially designed for VOLA more than 40 years ago. That’s why they work together so naturally. The Round Shower is effortlessly elegant.
Like all VOLA products, it keeps its technical  parts subtly hidden from view. Design: Aarhus Arkitekterne
